Our redox-flow battery technology improves on past iterations and reduces the cost of energy to less than $100/kWh while maintaining high-performance.

Complex Iron-Chromium Technology

Researchers at Cougar Creek Technologies have developed redox-flow battery technology with a near neutral solution for increased performance and safety. Using complex cations formed from ligands, we are able to raise the potential of each compound. Our energy dense electrolyte solutions are made from industry-grade chemicals and don't require any catalysts, creating an incredibly stable system. In the redox reaction, an acid is reduced and a proton is lost. Competitors use expensive proton membranes to transfer charge between electrolytes, but IMABATTERY ™ uses porous separators that allow cations and anions to move between the fluids and the proton to be reduced. This keeps the performance high and the system costs to a breakthrough low of less than $100/kWh

IMABATTERY ™ Technology

Our latest redox-flow battery technology successfully solves the key problems of past models

IMABATTERY ™ uses an iron-chrome redox reaction. These materials are earth abundant, cheap, and easily recycled. Our batteries are able to provide energy storage for the present as well as the future.


A sub-system using Vanadium-containing solutions and a hydrocarbon material as a reductant has been developed to reduce Fe 3+ back to Fe 2+ and to compensate the proton loss due to H2 generation


IMABATTERY ™ avoids harmful catalysts that would otherwise contaminate the electrolyte solution. Our catalyst is an organic compound that has the same desired effects and extends the battery's overall lifetime.
